Executive Tempo 10 Seater Hire in Kochi: What Ten Seats Really Means
The cheapest true Tempo Traveller we run, at ₹2,800 a day. Ten seats on paper, nine usable in practice — and why that matters more than the rate.

Every tempo traveller listing starts with a seat count, and every seat count is optimistic. The 10 seater is where that gap shows up first, so it is worth being straight about it.
We run two 10 seaters — this Executive one at ₹2,800 a day and a Premium at ₹3,400. This post is about the Executive.
Where the tenth seat goes
A 10 seater Tempo has ten seats. Two of them are beside the driver, and the rest run down the cabin. What the count does not tell you is that the last row frequently becomes the luggage shelf on trips with bags, and the seats next to the driver are not where most adults want to sit for four hours.
So the working capacity is nine, comfortably, with luggage.
That is not a flaw in the vehicle. It is the ordinary reality of how a group uses one, and it is the reason we tell nine-person groups they are at the limit rather than comfortably inside it.
Why pick it over the 12 seater
Price, and nothing else.
At ₹2,800 against ₹3,000 for the Executive Tempo 12, the 10 seater saves ₹200 a day. Over a three-day Munnar or Thekkady trip that is ₹600 — roughly the cost of a decent meal for the group.
If your group is eight or fewer, that is a straightforward saving with no downside. The extra two seats in a 12 seater are buying you space you will not use.
If your group is nine or ten, the calculus flips. Pay the ₹600 and take the 12 seater. You get the same vehicle with two more rows of breathing room, and the luggage stops living in the back seat.
An honest comparison
Here is how I would actually book it, by group size:
- Six to eight people — 10 seater. Take the saving.
- Nine people, light bags — 10 seater works, but you will be snug.
- Nine people, heavy bags or tall passengers — 12 seater.
- Ten or more — 12 seater, or the 17 if you want real room.
Note that the Premium 10 seater at ₹3,400 is a different vehicle with a better interior, not a bigger one. If you are choosing premium for space, you are buying it in the wrong place — the Executive 12 is cheaper than the Premium 10 and holds more.
That last point confuses people constantly, so it is worth repeating: a Premium 10 is ₹3,400, an Executive 12 is ₹3,000, and the Executive has two more seats.
The seats to ask for
If you are travelling with nine or ten people, the seating matters more than the number on the door. A few things worth knowing before you board.
The seats beside the driver are the ones nobody chooses, and they are also the best for anyone prone to carsickness, because they look forward through the windscreen. Ask for them if that is your group’s issue.
The middle rows are the comfortable ones, with the least road noise and the easiest access to the door.
The back row is where bags end up on any trip with luggage, and on a hill road it is the row that feels every hairpin. If you have five rows and two spare seats, spread out — do not fill the back row first.
Also worth knowing: a tempo traveller’s air conditioning struggles in the back row on a hot afternoon. It is not a defect in ours, it is the shape of a long cabin with the vents at the front. On a March or April trip, put the people who feel the heat in the middle, not the rear.

Common questions

- What does a 10 seater tempo traveller cost in Kochi?
- ₹2,800 per day with 100 km included per day. A 1 night / 2 day package is ₹5,600, extra km is ₹23, and driver allowance is ₹700 per day extra.
- Is a 10 seater cheaper than a 12 seater?
- Yes — ₹200 a day cheaper. Over a three-day trip that is ₹600. If your group is nine or fewer, it is the better value.
