Tempo Traveller Hire in Aluva: You Are Booking From Our Home Base
Aluva is where our vans actually live. What that means for pickup times, the Periyar river town, and why a garage-to-garage trip starts faster here.

Most tempo traveller companies in Kerala list Kochi and mean a workshop somewhere on the outskirts. Our vans are garaged in Aluva, and the office address on Market Road is not a mailing address — it is where the vehicles actually are.
That sounds like a small distinction. It is not, and here is why.
Aluva is a better starting line
Kilometres on a package are counted from the garage and back. If your vehicle starts in Ernakulam and you are heading to Munnar, you spend the first stretch of your allowance crossing the city to reach NH 85. If it starts in Aluva, you are on the highway almost immediately.
For a Munnar trip, that is the difference between your 200 km of included running going on the road you booked and on Kochi traffic you did not.
Aluva also sits at the junction of the roads that matter. NH 85 east towards Muvattupuzha and the hill country. NH 66 south along the coast. The airport road north. It is the natural pivot for anywhere in central Kerala.
The Periyar, and the town around it
Aluva is built on the Periyar river, and the town’s identity comes from it. The Aluva Mahadeva Temple stands on the riverbank, and the Sivarathri festival every year draws crowds to the sandbanks in a way that fills every road in the town for a day.
For a group travelling through, that is worth knowing for one practical reason: on Sivarathri, Aluva is not a place to route a trip through. Traffic and diversions close around the temple and the riverbank. If your dates land on it, tell us and we will build the day around the closure rather than into it.
The rest of the year, Aluva is a quiet, useful town. Metro-line construction has changed the main roads in recent years, so the route into the station is not always the one a map suggests. Our drivers know the current way in.
Pickup points
Tell us which of these suits you and we will confirm it:
- Our base on Market Road — the simplest handover, and where the vehicles start.
- Aluva railway station — convenient if part of your group is arriving by train from the north.
- Aluva metro station — for groups based in Ernakulam who want to ride out rather than fight morning traffic into the city.
If your group is scattered, a single pickup point is always better than two. Two pickups means the van spends the morning collecting people instead of driving.
What it costs
Local hire — for a day out and back — is a fixed 8 hour / 80 km package per vehicle:
- 12 seater — ₹3,000
- 17 seater — ₹3,300
Driver allowance is ₹700 per day extra. Tolls and parking inside Kerala are free.
If you are heading somewhere further, it becomes a package trip rather than a local day, and the rate depends on the destination and nights. Munnar at 111 km and Vagamon at 95 km are both straightforward from here.
When Aluva is the right base
If your trip starts in the north of Kochi, or from the airport, Aluva is the obvious choice — it is closer to both than the city is.
If you are staying in Fort Kochi or the islands, Ernakulam Junction or Vytilla will be closer to you, and it is worth booking the handover there instead.
We station vehicles at all four points — Aluva, Cochin Airport, Ernakulam Jn and Vytilla — so tell us where you are and we will start the trip from the nearest one rather than making you come to us.
One more thing worth knowing: Aluva sits on the metro line, so a group based in Ernakulam can ride out and meet the vehicle rather than have it crawl into the city first. On a morning departure, that can save the group close to an hour.

Common questions
- Where do you pick up in Aluva?
- Our base is on Market Road, Aluva. For most trips we hand over there or at the Aluva railway station area — tell us which and we will confirm the exact point.
- Is Aluva cheaper for a tempo traveller than Kochi city?
- Not cheaper, but faster to start. Kilometres are counted from the garage, so a trip beginning at Aluva does not spend its first 20 km driving out of Ernakulam to reach the highway.
- How far is Aluva from Cochin Airport?
- About 12 km, roughly 20 minutes. Aluva is the closest town to the airport, which is why a lot of our airport work starts and ends here.
- Can we hire a tempo traveller in Aluva for a local day trip?
- Yes. Local hire is an 8 hour / 80 km day package — ₹3,000 for a 12 seater, ₹3,300 for a 17 seater — with driver allowance extra.
