Tempo Traveller Km Per Day Limit: What 100 Km Really Covers, and Where You Go Over

Every van includes 100 km a day, and every kilometre is counted garage to garage. The Munnar round trip is 222 km, not 111 — here is the arithmetic that decides your invoice.

Included kilometres run from the garage and back. The empty half of the road still counts.

One hundred kilometres. That is the number that decides whether your tempo traveller invoice matches the quote you were given.

Every van we send out includes 100 km per day. What is not simple is how far that gets you, and exactly where the extra kilometres begin.

So here is the whole thing, with real road numbers, because the surprises happen on the longer trips.

The rule in one line

Each day of the package includes 100 km. Past that you pay a per-kilometre rate that depends on the van. And every kilometre is counted from the garage and back to the same garage. That last part is what catches people.

What 100 km gets you

From our Aluva garage:

  • Alleppey — 76 km. Comfortably inside a day.
  • Vagamon — 95 km. Also inside, just.
  • Munnar — 111 km. Slightly over on the one leg.

Note that those are one-way figures. A round trip doubles each one.

The Munnar example, worked on paper

This one is worth doing properly.

Aluva to Munnar is 111 km. The return is 222 km. A one-night trip is two days, which includes 200 km. You are 22 km over before the van has driven anywhere inside Munnar itself.

Running out to Mattupetty Dam adds distance. So does Echo Point. By the time a group does the tea country properly, the trip is often 40 or 50 km over the included figure.

And here is the honest downside. At ₹23 per extra km on a 12 seater, 40 km over is ₹920 on the invoice. That is not an error. It is the model, and it is why we would rather show you the arithmetic now than after the trip.

Extra km rates, van by van

  • Winger 9/12 — ₹23/km
  • Executive Tempo 10/12 — ₹23/km
  • Executive Tempo 17 — ₹25/km
  • Executive Tempo 19 — ₹28/km
  • Executive Tempo 26 — ₹30/km
  • Premium Tempo 10 — ₹23/km; 12 — ₹24/km; 15 — ₹25/km
  • Urbania 10/15 — ₹30/km; Premium Urbania 10 — ₹32/km

Driver allowance is separate and per day — ₹700 across the Winger and tempo range, ₹1,000 on the Urbania.

Local hire is different

For a single day around Kochi with no overnight, we run one package only: 8 hours and 80 km. If your day is a wedding, an airport run and a temple stop, that is usually enough. If you plan to tour Fort Kochi, then Vytilla, then head out to Angamaly, it is not — and you will be over both the hours and the kilometres.

How to stay inside the limit

Two moves.

Take the longer trip across more nights. A two-night Munnar package is three days with 300 km included, which absorbs the running around. Same van, same driver, more headroom.

And tell us your plan honestly. If you say at booking that Top Station and Kundala Lake are both on the list, we will build the kilometres in. If you mention it from the back seat at 4pm, the meter is already running.

One more thing, because it decides a lot of invoices. The meter starts when the van leaves its garage, and stops when it returns to the same garage. Hand over at Aluva and you are counting Aluva, not your hotel in Fort Kochi. Suppose you are staying near Kundannoor and we collect from Aluva — that run out to you and back is part of the day. It is why a quote can look bigger than a map app suggests.

When the model bites

Long single-night trips. Kochi to Rameswaram is 465 km each way — do not attempt it as an overnight. It is four nights by our reckoning, and that is where the included kilometres finally fit the road. Squeezing a trip that long into a two-day package is where extra-km charges turn ugly, and we will say so before you book rather than after.

The other end of the scale

A nine-night, ten-day run — the sort of tour a group does to Rameswaram and back — is ten days at the daily rate with 1,000 km included on a 12 seater: ₹30,000. On a route that long, staying inside the included kilometres is almost automatic. The distance does the work for you, and nobody is watching a meter.

Which tells you where the real risk sits. It is not the long tours. It is the short, packed overnight trips, where a group tries to see four things in two days and the kilometres pile up faster than anyone expects.

Rates are indicative and change on peak festive days. The final quote is confirmed by our team — kilometres counted garage to garage, with extra km, driver allowance and any interstate permit shown as separate lines.

Common questions

How many km per day does a tempo traveller include?
100 km per day on the daily rate, on every vehicle in our fleet. Beyond that you pay a per-km rate that depends on the van — ₹23 on a 12 seater, up to ₹32 on a Premium Urbania.
How is the km limit calculated for a tempo traveller?
Kilometres are counted from the garage and back to the same garage. A round trip to Munnar from Aluva is 222 km, not 111, so a one-night, two-day package with 200 km included leaves you about 22 km over before local running.
What is the local day hire limit?
One package only — 8 hours and 80 km. It suits a wedding run or an airport transfer day, not a full day of sightseeing across Kochi.
How does driver allowance work?
It is per day and it is extra to the package. ₹700 a day on the Winger and the tempo range, ₹1,000 a day on the Urbania.
