Tempo Traveller Near Cochin Airport: Group Pickup Without the Scramble
Cochin Airport handles groups badly — taxis are single cars and the terminal kerb is chaos. How a tempo traveller pickup actually works, and what it saves.

An airport is a bad place to arrive with a large group. That is the whole problem, and it has nothing to do with the flight.
Cochin Airport handles solo travellers and couples fine. It handles a group of twelve, arriving at midnight with luggage, by making them queue at a taxi rank and split across four cars. Somebody always ends up in the last car, alone, with directions the driver does not know.
A tempo traveller fixes this in one decision. Here is how the pickup actually works.
One van, one arrival
Book a 12 or 17 seater and the whole group walks out of the terminal together, loads into one vehicle, and arrives at the hotel together.
For a group of nine or more, that is the difference between one journey and three. It is also the difference between one bill and four.
The van waits at the forecourt pickup point rather than the taxi rank. Your driver will tell you exactly where to meet, and it is normally a short walk from the arrivals exit rather than a hunt across the car park.
We track the flight
Give us the flight number and the pickup is scheduled against your actual landing, not the timetable.
This matters more here than at most airports. Cochin’s international arrivals can run late, and a taxi driver who has been waiting an hour is a taxi driver who has either left or is charging you for it. A booked van with a tracked flight is not.
Tell us the flight number, the origin, and roughly how long your group takes to clear immigration and baggage. Late-night arrivals with checked bags take longer than the schedule suggests.
The distances that matter
- To Aluva — about 12 km, roughly 20 minutes. Our nearest base.
- To Ernakulam — about 28 km, roughly 45 minutes outside peak hours.
- To Fort Kochi — about 40 km, and closer to an hour and a half in traffic.
- To Munnar — 111 km from our Aluva garage, about four hours with the ghat climb.
If your plan is to fly in and go straight to a hill station, tell us upfront. An airport pickup followed by a four-hour drive is a very long day, and the scheduling is different from a simple city transfer.
What it costs
An airport transfer is treated as local hire — a fixed 8 hour / 80 km day package per vehicle — unless it forms part of a longer trip:
- 12 seater — ₹3,000
- 17 seater — ₹3,300
Driver allowance is ₹700 per day extra. Tolls and parking inside Kerala are free.
Compare that with the alternative. Four taxis from the airport, each with its own fare and its own meter, is not a number you can predict — and it is almost never cheaper than one van for the same group.
Pickups, not just drop-offs
Most of our airport work runs the other way too: drop-offs at the end of a trip. A group finishing a week in Munnar or Alleppey has accumulated far more luggage than it arrived with, and one van handles that better than a convoy.
If your trip ends with a flight, tell us the departure time when you book the trip, not at the end of it. Airport drops need a different buffer from a hotel drop, and building it in early costs nothing.
If you are arriving on separate flights
Groups rarely land together. Tell us every flight number and we will suggest the shape — usually one pickup for the earliest arrival and a second for the later one, rather than a van idling at the kerb for three hours in between. It is cheaper than the wait, and it means nobody is left sitting in arrivals on their own.
Late-night arrivals after 11 pm are common at Cochin. Tell us the flight and the hotel even then; the terminal is quieter at that hour but the roads are not automatically faster.

Common questions
- How far is Cochin Airport from Kochi city?
- About 28 km from Ernakulam, roughly 45 minutes outside peak hours and longer in the evening rush. It is around 12 km from Aluva, which is about 20 minutes.
- Can a tempo traveller pick up at Cochin Airport arrivals?
- Yes. The van waits at the forecourt pickup point, and we track your flight. A group of nine or more fits one van instead of five taxis.
- What if our flight is delayed?
- Tell us the flight number when you book and we track it. Arrival pickups are scheduled against the actual landing time, not the timetabled one.
- Is a tempo traveller cheaper than taxis from Cochin Airport?
- For a large group, usually yes. A 12 seater is ₹3,000 for the local day package, and a group of twelve would otherwise need three or four taxis with separate fares.
