Urbania vs Premium Urbania: Is the 10 Seater Upgrade Worth Rs 1,000 a Day?

Same body, same ten seats, Rs 1,000 a day apart. The difference between the Urbania 10 and the Premium Urbania 10 is all interior. Here is who should pay for it.

The Urbania body is the same across both trims. What changes is inside.

Here is a comparison where the vans are almost the same vehicle.

The Urbania 10 and the Premium Urbania 10 share the same wider body, the same lower step-in, and the same car-like ride that makes people stop calling it a van after ten minutes. Same ten seats. Different cabin, different price tag — Rs 1,000 a day apart before anything else.

So the question is not which rides better. It is whether the inside of a van is worth Rs 1,000 a day to you.

The numbers under both

  • Urbania 10 — Rs 5,500 per day, Rs 30 per extra km, driver allowance Rs 1,000 per day
  • Premium Urbania 10 — Rs 6,500 per day, Rs 32 per extra km, driver allowance Rs 1,000 per day

Both include 100 km per day and both are counted from the garage and back to the same garage. Parking and tolls inside Kerala are free on either.

Package billing is nights plus one. One night is two days.

  • Urbania 10, 1 night: 2 × Rs 5,500 = Rs 11,000 with 200 km
  • Premium Urbania 10, 1 night: 2 × Rs 6,500 = Rs 13,000 with 200 km

That is Rs 2,000 more for one night. Over three nights it is Rs 6,000. Note the driver allowance is Rs 1,000 a day on the Urbania, higher than the tempo traveller fleet, and it is extra either way.

Where the money goes

The Premium Urbania 10 is the most refined interior we run. Top tier, full stop. Finer cabin finish, a quieter feel on the move, the small details that a guest notices when they step in.

The standard Urbania 10 gets you the Urbania body and its best trick — that low step-in and the wide body that stops the cabin feeling like a tube. It does not get the top-shelf interior.

Nothing else changes. Same seats. Same driving position. Same road manners.

When the standard Urbania 10 is the right buy

Most of the time, if we are honest.

If you are a family of eight or nine heading to Munnar, 111 km and one night, you are spending about four hours in the van each way and sleeping at the other end. Paying Rs 2,000 extra for one night of premium trim is a lot for four hours.

The Urbania 10 also wins outright on value for a full group. Ten people at Rs 5,500 works out to Rs 550 a head per day. The Premium at Rs 6,500 is Rs 650 a head. If you fill the van, the standard one is the sensible booking and nobody will feel short-changed.

There is a second reason the standard Urbania 10 is often right. The Urbania body itself does most of the work people credit the Premium trim for. The wider cabin, the lower step-in that helps an older passenger board without a scramble, the ride that feels closer to a car than a van — all of that is on the base model. You get it for Rs 5,500. The Premium adds finish on top of a good base, which means the cheaper van is never the poor relation on the road.

When to pay for the Premium

Four situations, roughly.

A long run, three nights or more. Kovalam is 245.7 km and three nights. Kanyakumari is 335.6 km and four nights. On four nights the cabin is where you spend a big chunk of your waking hours, and the refinement stops being a luxury.

A couple or a small party who wants the whole van. Ten seats for two people. If you are paying for space you may as well have the nicest interior in the fleet.

A VIP or a guest you are hosting. Airport pickup at Cochin Airport, a run down to Fort Kochi, a wedding party. The Premium sends the right signal.

Anyone who values a quiet cabin on a bad road. The Premium rides with less of the road coming through. On the run out past Aroor and Cherthala the surface is fine, but the last stretch into hill country is not, and that is where the refinement pays off.

Our verdict

If your trip is short and your group fills the van, book the standard Urbania 10 and put the Rs 2,000 toward a better hotel.

If it is a long trip, a special guest, or a couple who want the whole cabin to themselves, pay for the Premium Urbania 10. That is what it is built for.

The one thing to skip is paying for Premium on a one-night hop where comfort barely registers.

To book, ring +91 70343 01815 or book online. Rates are indicative and rise on festive-season days, and the Urbania’s Rs 1,000 daily allowance is extra on both trims. Common questions

What is the difference between the Urbania 10 and Premium Urbania 10?
Both seat ten and share the wider Urbania body, lower step-in and car-like ride. The Premium Urbania is our most refined interior, top tier in the fleet, with a finer cabin finish. The mechanical experience of the ride is close.
How much does an Urbania 10 cost per day in Kochi?
Rs 5,500 per day with 100 km included, Rs 30 per extra km and Rs 1,000 per day driver allowance. The Premium Urbania 10 is Rs 6,500 per day, Rs 32 per extra km, same Rs 1,000 allowance.
Is the Premium Urbania worth the extra money?
For a honeymoon couple, a VIP guest or a long overnight run, yes. For a group that just needs to get to Munnar and back, the standard Urbania 10 does the same journey for less.
Can a ten seater Urbania handle a Kochi to Kovalam trip?
Easily. Kovalam is 245.7 km and three nights, so it is four package days. If comfort across four days matters, the Premium trim is the one people pick.
