Winger 9/12 Seater Hire in Kochi: The Smallest Van We Run, and Who It Is Actually For
At ₹2,600 a day it is the cheapest vehicle we have. It is also a van, not a tempo — and that distinction decides whether it suits your group.

The Winger is the cheapest thing in our fleet and the one people ask about first, usually because of the price. It is worth understanding what you are buying at that price, because it is a different vehicle class from a tempo traveller, not just a smaller one.
Short version: the Winger is a van. A Tempo Traveller is a minibus. They both hold about the same number of people on paper. They do not feel the same inside.
What the Winger actually is
The Tata Winger is a van platform — lower floor, lower roof, a more car-like seating position than a Tempo Traveller. Ours is the Winger AC 9/12 Seat, and it is the vehicle we hand over for small groups that want the cheapest possible rate.
₹2,600 a day. That is ₹200 below the Executive Tempo 10 seater and ₹400 below the Executive Tempo 12. Over a three-day trip, the gap is ₹1,200 against the 12 seater — real money for a small group.
What you give up for it is interior volume. There is no aisle to walk down. The roof is lower. Luggage goes behind the last row rather than in a separate compartment. For eight people going to Alleppey for a night, none of that matters. For twelve adults going to Kodaikanal, all of it does.
Who should book it
Six to eight passengers with normal holiday luggage. That is the sweet spot. The van seats them comfortably, the luggage goes in the back, and the saving against a Tempo is yours.
A family of five or six doing a Munnar or Vagamon overnight. Perfect fit.
A small airport transfer. Three or four people and their bags at ₹2,600 is cheaper than the equivalent in taxis at peak, and far simpler than splitting.
Who should not
Twelve passengers. The seats exist. The comfort does not, on anything beyond a short city run. Book the Executive Tempo 12 instead — it is ₹400 a day more and the difference inside is not subtle.
Anyone doing a long hill route with heavy luggage. Four days to Kanyakumari in a van with the bags stacked behind the last row is a compromise you will feel by day two.
This is the honest position: we will take a booking for twelve in a Winger, because it is legal and the seats are there. We will also tell you, before you pay, that a 12 seater Tempo is the better vehicle for that trip.
Luggage, honestly
There is no separate luggage compartment in a Winger. Bags go behind the rear bench, in the space that exists between the last row and the tailgate.
That is enough for one medium bag per person at eight passengers. It is not enough for eight people with large hard cases, a stroller and a cooler. If that is your group, you want a vehicle with a proper boot or a roof carrier, and we will tell you so when you book rather than letting you discover it at the kerb.
Two other practical points about the small van. The 100 km included per day runs from the garage and back, so a trip to Alleppey and home uses about 153 of the 200 km on a two-day booking — comfortable. And the Winger’s lower floor makes it the easiest vehicle in the fleet to get into, which matters if anyone in the group has trouble with a high step.
What it costs
- 1 Night / 2 Days — ₹5,200, 200 km included
- 2 Nights / 3 Days — ₹7,800, 300 km included
That is 100 km included per day, billed from the garage and back. Extra kilometres are ₹23/km, and driver allowance is ₹700 per day extra. Tolls and parking inside Kerala are free.
At ₹2,600 a day for up to twelve seats, this is the cheapest way to move a group we offer. Divided across eight passengers, a day costs ₹325 a head before allowance — less than a taxi each way to the airport.
